Why won’t Blackboard load my courses or course content?
Recent reviews strongly support this complaint. Users describe courses opening to a blank white screen, course content not populating, grades or materials failing to load, and repeated errors such as “Something’s not right” or bad-request messages. Several reviewers say the problem continued after uninstalling and reinstalling, while one said content loaded only right after installation and failed again after logging out.
Based on these reviews, the course-loading problem is not described as a one-off user mistake. It appears to be a recurring reliability issue for people trying to use the mobile app for schoolwork on the go.
There's always been issues with this app (defaults to showing every class you've ever enrolled in instead of just your current classes with no way to change it, logs you out after a few hours even if you select to stay logged in) but now it won't even load any of my course content. When I click on a course the screen just goes blank.
Stopped working properly awhile ago. Courses show, but nothing populates when you click on them. Grades don't populate. Constantly get "something's not right" error. Pretty useless now.
App only shows blank white screens and/ or error messages when trying to access different tabs for course content. This app is completely un-useable at this point. Try the website in your search engine.

Is the Blackboard app better than using Blackboard in a browser?
The reviews lean toward using the browser instead of the app when reliability matters. Multiple users say the mobile website, Chrome, Safari, or a phone browser works better because the app is slow, fails to load classes, or breaks when opening course content. The browser is not always praised as perfect, but reviewers often describe it as more functional than the app.
If your school requires Blackboard, the reviews suggest keeping browser access available as a fallback rather than relying only on the mobile app for time-sensitive work.
The website is still better than the app. The app takes more than minutes to actually open Course Content on a subject, it doesn't even open properly most of the time. It just ends up being a white screen. Just use the website on Chrome or Safari, works better.
barely even functions. I have to log in every time I access the app, notifications lead me to broken links, and "something isnt right" errors multiple times per app visit. its to the point where its almost more trouble to keep the app than actually use it for schooling. its easier to use the browser on my phone.
The website works fine; why can't the app? Its not even loading my classes! Hey! Someone fix this please?! It would be REALLY NICE to get more ahead on the go! But no! Nothing loads, you have to log in EVERY SINGLE TIME even though I asked it YESTERDAY AGO to keep me logged in! Fix this broken app.

Does Blackboard keep logging users out?
Yes, this is a recurring complaint in the reviews. Users say Blackboard logs them out after a short time, asks them to sign in every session, or ignores the option to stay logged in. Some also mention repeated verification codes or login loops, which makes the app frustrating for frequent use.
The app description notes that Blackboard depends on each institution’s Blackboard server, so login behavior may vary by school. But the reviews here show that repeated sign-ins are a real concern for prospective users.
Can you PLEASE fix the app and stop it from logging me out every other session? I need to use the app frequently and it's so frustrating when to have to log in all the time!!
Check here to reduce the amount of times asked to login yet I still have to do it every single time. The developers need to start pushing updates to make this app not so trash. Website is terrible too.
Very buggy. On a daily average, I have to sign in multiple times, which means multiple varificarions to be able to sign in. Then when I am signed in there's a good chance I will select a course, then it will take me to a different layout of courses which then I have to select the course I wanted to again. Really look forward to when I graduate and I can never use this ever again, but now I really want to start a petition for my university to use another platform.

Are Blackboard notifications reliable for assignments and announcements?
Reviews raise serious concerns about notifications. Users report delayed notifications, missing activity alerts, old announcements loading when tapping a new one, broken notification links, and important notices arriving late enough to affect assignments.
There is one positive review saying Blackboard works well overall while noting that some notifications bug out. But users who depend on reminders for deadlines should not treat the app notifications as fully reliable based on these recent reviews.
Nothing loads at all. Notifications are weeks delayed, and when they do come through, they are non-stop. On wifi, off of wifi, it does not matter.
this app made me miss an assignment because of the notification not working and the app constantly having a white screen on it everytime i log on as a student this is deeply frustrating especially when your school implement this website and you were forced to download the app what app is not doing a good job the website is working in the app is not
Always making me sign in, doesn't show grades, not suitable to do work on through a phone. Doesn't update the announcements.. i can see a new announcement post but when i click it an old one always loads in place. Really hate this app and it's always signing me out or not pushing important notifications. Trash trash trash 🗑 should be ashamed of its level of functionality for students. update: still never works.

Can I submit assignments or take tests in the Blackboard app?
The app description says Blackboard can be used to complete and submit assignments and take tests, but recent reviews report problems doing schoolwork from a phone. Reviewers mention missed submissions, difficulty submitting tasks, inability to upload documents, and test interface problems such as a drop-down menu selecting the wrong answer.
For graded or deadline-sensitive work, the reviews suggest caution. Several users say the app’s loading and layout problems interfered with submitting work on time.
The app always loads so slow to the point that it just makes me frustrated, one time I was just about to pass an activity, it made me wait until it was already pass the submission time, and sometimes whenever I try to open a discussion I always see that the screen is cropped, making me no choice but to make my display screen smaller, and even after that it's still cropped a bit
doesnt allow you to upload documents
barely even works. everytime I get the the last question on a test it selects something other than the answer I wamt because the drop down menu is stuck under another part of the window

Can Blackboard show grades, calendars, and announcements correctly?
Reviews are mixed, but the negative reports are specific. Some users say grades do not populate or do not show, calendars do not clearly mark completed assignments, course calendars fail to load, and announcements update late or open the wrong post. A positive reviewer said the app made it easier than using a laptop or website to check grades, so this may depend on the user’s school setup and whether the app is loading properly.
Stopped working properly awhile ago. Courses show, but nothing populates when you click on them. Grades don't populate. Constantly get "something's not right" error. Pretty useless now.
Information is harder to find. Doesn't show when an assignment is completed on the calendar, hard to keep track of what needs to be done. To-do list is good but you actually have to look at it, and I dont think its very noticeable. Canvas is definitely better, at least for me.
it's a school app, probably depends on how your school sets it up but it works well, some notifications bug out but most apps do so anyways 🤷♀️, (people complain too much) it works well, easier than having to use another format (laptop/school computer/website) to check grades.

Is Blackboard slow, laggy, or crash-prone on Android?
Yes. Reviews commonly describe Blackboard as slow, laggy, buggy, crash-prone, and unreliable on mobile. Users say course pages take a long time to open, documents are unreliable, the app shows glitched screens, and it may crash or become unresponsive even with a good connection.
This matters because the app is often used for quick school tasks. Reviewers repeatedly say the app fails at that convenience use case because loading content can take longer than the task itself.
Frequently crashes and the overall performance is poor on mobile. Loading times are always way too long and loading any document is unreliable/ unstable.
This app is a bug-ridden mess that not only takes far too long to load, but will also display glitched screens.
Too slow, crashes, and lags despite having a good internet connection.

Is Blackboard easy to use on a phone?
Many recent reviews say Blackboard is not easy to use on a phone. Complaints include a confusing or bad mobile UI, difficulty finding information, cropped posts or discussions, poor navigation for beginners, and layouts that make mobile work impractical. One user said the interface was clean, but still called the app slow and unreliable.
The app may be enough for quick checks when it works, but the reviews do not support treating it as a dependable full replacement for a laptop or browser.
Wish it was more user friendly and easier to navigate especially when it's ur first time on the app and ur literally teaching yourself how to navigate the app.
Terrible ui interface, not beginner friendly, delayed notifications. Hard to submit tasks.
I can only read left left side of posts. It wont include the whole view, I cant soom out or alter it in anyway to view the right side of a post. this isn't helpful for doing work on the go on my phone...all I can do is check grades really.

Does uninstalling and reinstalling Blackboard fix the blank screen?
The reviews do not show reinstalling as a reliable fix. Several users say they uninstalled and reinstalled Blackboard but still could not load courses or access classrooms. One reviewer said course content worked right after installation, then stopped loading again after logging out.
So reinstalling may be worth trying if your school’s support team recommends it, but the recent reviews suggest it often does not solve the underlying loading problem.
I can't even see anything. Every time I try to load a class, it's a blank screen. Even when I uninstall and refresh everything, nothing changes. Which makes it very difficult on the go.
ever since the new update I have not been able to access my classroom. I can login and select any class that is available but when trying to enter the classroom the screen stays white and never loads. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and that has not helped
VERY FRUSTRATED - Just like so many others have mentioned, I was able to access my course content before but now, the content does not load. I have uninstalled the app twice now. I am able to access my course content right after installation but once I log out the content does not load when I log back in.

Why can’t Blackboard find my school or let me log in?
Some reviews report login-specific failures apart from course-loading problems. Users mention the app not finding their school, credentials loading forever, CAS errors, web-login sizing problems, and unwanted verification-code prompts. Because the app works with each institution’s Blackboard server, school login setup may affect what a user sees.
Still, the reviews show that login and school-selection problems can prevent some users from reaching the app’s course features at all.
you can't even use it I've tried putting in the name of my school multiple different ways I even tried using the address and it won't find it the app is useless
The app was fine as recently as June 2026, but the last month it's been completely unusable. When I try to log in, my credentials just load forever and never actually log me in. The app has never been perfect, but this is genuinely unusable.
The moment I sign into my account on my phone it throws a code about a CAS issue and doesn't let me proceed. But if I sign in on my Chromebook and straight through my Internet browser it's all peaches and cream.
