Revolut: Spend, Save, Trade — FAQ

Is Revolut a scam?

Revolut is a real, regulated financial services company used by tens of millions of people, so it isn't a scam in the sense of being fake. That said, at least one reviewer describes losing money through Revolut's investment product — a settled trade cancelled after the fact, leaving a negative balance the reviewer was then asked to cover — which is a serious complaint worth taking seriously if you're considering using Revolut for trading, not just everyday banking.

I would not recommend this platform. They are a scam. With their Investment account they will tear you apart (financially). As a victim I have invested in stocks with their platform. When it was time for me to benefit from that stock, they cancelled my settled trade and left me with a negative balance on my account. Finally they demanded that I pay for this platform's mistake. Whenever they fail to earn enough from you, they will eventually use clauses like "section 29" for their mistakes.

Is Revolut legit?

Yes, Revolut is a licensed financial app, not fraudulent — many reviewers use it for years without issue for everyday spending and international transfers. But it isn't without real trust concerns: reviewers describe frozen or restricted accounts during identity verification that then fail repeatedly, and a general sense that support is hard to reach when something goes wrong with an account, which matters more for a bank than for most other kinds of apps.

Revolut does not protect its customer's interests. Revolut only wants to take, while the people working at Revolut do not have the knowledge or experience of real bank employees. With Revolut, it is easy to become a victim of fraud. Fortunately, there are plenty of real banks that actually protect their customers, so there is no reason to take the risk with this one. If you want your money to be secure, go to a real bank. With Revolut, it's easy to lose your money.

Why does Revolut keep crashing or logging me out?

A wave of recent reviewers describe the app becoming unstable — crashing on login, closing right after entering a PIN, or repeatedly logging users out even after reinstalling. This looks like a real, recent stability regression rather than an old or isolated bug, based on how many reviewers report it hitting them around the same time on otherwise long-standing accounts.

Suddenly the app is unstable. I've used the app with no problems for years. Now it keeps crashing even after rebooting my phone and reinstalling it. Useless!

Why did Revolut block GrapheneOS?

Revolut states this is a security measure related to its device-integrity checks, but a large number of reviewers strongly dispute that reasoning, pointing out the app still runs on old Android versions with years of unpatched security holes while blocking a hardened, privacy-focused operating system. Whatever the underlying reason, the practical effect reviewers report is the same: Revolut currently refuses to run on GrapheneOS devices.

Today, revolut lost me as a long time customer. These clowns have recently banned all customers who use GrapheneOS, which includes myself. revolut say this is on the grounds of security... But GrapheneOS is BY FAR the most secure version of android available, despite revolut still working on android 9 which has had no security patches since 2009.

Why is my Revolut account locked or restricted?

Reviewers describe accounts being locked pending identity verification, and then the verification process itself failing repeatedly — a selfie or ID check that doesn't go through, with no way to reach live support until the app is accessible again, which some describe as a catch-22. If this happens to you, reviewers suggest trying verification from a different device or network before assuming it's permanently stuck.

I've got the app for some time and this is second time I've lost access to my accounts. The verification methods don't work, as they ask me for taking selfie, confirming the identity ,and then the situation repeats. I tried to chat with a member of the support team but I couldn't, because I couldn't login into the app. Catch 22.
