Is Poweramp Music Player free or a 15-day trial?

Poweramp Music Player is listed as free to install, but the Play Store description says this version is a full-featured 15-day trial and points users to the Full Version Unlocker or the in-app Buy option. Reviews show that some users love the app enough to buy it, while others felt misled because they did not notice the trial before installing.

So prospective users should treat it as a trial of a paid music player, not a permanently free app. The biggest trust issue in the reviews is not that the app has no paid version, but that some users say the trial disclosure was not clear enough to them.

This is an absolute scam. I swear I would have NEVER installed or used this app if there was a clear warning on front page saying this is a 15-day TRIAL app. I would have gladly bought it, but I didn't like this move. Don't be so dishonest; you should be sued for misleading users this way. please spare me your damn answer—whether automated or not, I don't need it!

Somewhere at bottom of description they say: 15 day trial. After that they will lock you out, unless you pay them. This app was recomended by Gemini, when I was looking for app which can ignore commands from faulty BT speaker. It worked, so I didn't take speaker to shop to fix it (in different country, when I was there) Now I have app which extorts money from me, faulty speaker and months until I can take speaker to relevant shop. So thanks Poweramp.

Is Poweramp Music Player worth paying for?

Many positive reviewers say the paid version is worth it because of the sound controls, no-nonsense playback and long-term use. At the same time, several reviewers report frustration with unlocking, being asked to pay again, or getting support through forums. If you are buying mainly for reliable licensing across devices, the reviews are mixed enough that you should be cautious.

The best-supported reason to pay is the audio feature set. The best-supported reason to hesitate is purchase or unlocker confusion, especially after reinstalling or moving to another device.

Great app, paid version is well worth the money. But I'd love to see the ability to sort songs by Artist/Title, so songs would be alphabetical within each artist.

This is the second time I have had to try to unlock this app which I have purchased and I can't. If I have to do this every time my battery dies I will demand a refund!

How good is the sound quality and equalizer in Poweramp Music Player?

Sound quality is the strongest positive theme in the reviews. Reviewers praise the equalizer, bass controls, fade options, presets, per-output settings and the ability to tune audio for earbuds, Bluetooth and cars. Some users describe the app as complex, but those who like tweaking audio settings often see that depth as the main reason to use Poweramp.

There are still audio complaints, especially around Bluetooth volume changes and hitches, but the general praise for Poweramp’s EQ and customization is much stronger than for its navigation or library features.

Best MP3 player I've used so far. Controlls are intuitive, having easy access to all the dials and options makes it a very smooth experience to make your music sound just that bit better. Importing mp3 folders is easy and works flawlessly. The crossfade can be modified to your liking making transitions smooth and simple. Overall great experience, I've had some trouble with the sound cutting out when I changed volume, but turning off DVC fixed that for me. Love the expansive options.

Poweramp Music Player along with the sister app the Full EQ (allows eq of music through YT Music) allow great customization of the sound being played by your phone or output through BT. There's a lot of options and settings, so be prepared to spend a bit of time getting used to it and getting everything set up just right. Having different sound output scenarios based on output allows you to have different settings for the phone, your earbuds, and Bluetooth to your car. The amount of control is ✔

Does Poweramp Music Player have Bluetooth volume drops or audio hitches?

Yes, several recent reviews describe Bluetooth-related volume fluctuation, sound dropping briefly when changing volume, intermittent audio hitches, or the app starting playback unexpectedly when connecting to Bluetooth. One positive reviewer said turning off DVC fixed volume-change cutouts for them, but others say disabling EQ, limiter and tone did not solve their problem.

If you mainly listen over Bluetooth, these reviews suggest testing the trial with your own headphones, speaker or car before buying.

something is happening with the volume adjustment, at least on Bluetooth. the sound fluctuates constantly similar to how a limiter works, but way worse. it sounds terrible. I have disabled the equalizer, the limit, the tone and so on, but the effect persists... I can't find what makes it sound like that, but it's making the app useless for me atm
★☆☆☆☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-18 · 13 found this helpful
Still no fix for intermittent audio hitches. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, sometimes it happens several times every minute of playback. No other modern music player I've used on Android has this problem, and since the devs stated it's a known issue nearly a year ago, I'm not sure why it hasn't been addressed. It genuinely makes the app unusable. I really don't want to find a new music player. :(

dnt know why.. in my moto g85, when I turn volume up/down song voice always gets down a little for half a second then volume takes affects. i tried in default Google file manager, it happens but not noticable. but in powerful volume goes like 60 to 10 instead of 70%. but after tht sound drop volume gains. tried in blutooth, on speaker,(dsnt have audio jack to check earphones). haven't tried absolute volume(cuz banking apps do not run after developer mode on). tell what can be the cause.

Is Poweramp Music Player easy to use?

Poweramp Music Player is powerful, but not everyone finds it easy. Some reviewers praise the clean UI and intuitive controls, while others call the interface clunky, cryptic or hard to navigate. Complaints include the back button closing the app, confusing playback modes, a large pause button affecting seeking, and difficulty finding basic screens.

The safest expectation is that Poweramp rewards users who want many audio and library settings, but it may feel overbuilt if you want a simple default music player.

so now i cant scroll in track, because the paise button became HUGE? why? every release diminishes this once great player. Equalizer would be SO much easier if I could double-click a slider to zero it, or it had a wide zero-value (magnetic slider). Good sounding app, but a bit cryptic due to the fact that it is always in some mode (artist\album\folder etc), without any indication, or easy way to change. So I'm never really sure what will be the 2nd song it will play
★★☆☆☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-13 · 107 found this helpful
Sounds incredible, but the app is not very intuitive at times. For example, why does the back button exit the app when it should naturally go to the previous screen? It is nearly impossible to navigate. And the motions drive me crazy. Fortunately I found a setting to make the lists actually a list instead of the default sound line chart. Great start. Could use some work.

This is the only app that covers my complete music list. I do wish they made the UI simpler or allowed a UI with basic functions.

Does Poweramp Music Player handle folders, playlists and library scanning reliably?

Reviews are mixed. Some users say importing MP3 folders is easy and that Poweramp can cover a complete music list, but many complaints focus on songs not appearing, folders not being selectable, playlists keeping dead entries, playlists being deleted, albums splitting, tags mixing up, or the app losing albums during scans.

If your library is carefully organized by folders, tags, albums and playlists, Poweramp’s flexibility may help, but the recent reviews show real risk of frustration around scanning and organization.

Poweramp looks beautiful, but it's one of the most frustrating music players I've ever used. Even some beginner music players handle basic library management better. If I delete a song, why does the playlist keep a dead entry instead of removing it? And if I replace it with a file that has the exact same name, Poweramp still refuses to recognize it. That's ridiculous. On top of that, there's still no proper way to add synced lyrics or simply hide tracks from the library.

Recent performance Summer of 2026. The app has been malfunctioning extremely, not recognizing the songs, mixing up the tags, album covers and deleting the playlists. This was my favorite music player but seems like I'll have to look for another.

Does Poweramp Music Player have album art problems?

Yes, album art is a recurring complaint in the recent reviews. Users report missing covers, irrelevant search results, wrong native artwork, random artwork applied to albums, and even inappropriate images in album cover results. One reviewer later said an update fixed their album-art search problem, but others continued to report cover issues.

Poweramp’s Play Store description says it can download missing album art and artist images, but the reviews suggest that feature may not be reliable for everyone.

will not play added songs I have rescanned multiple times and folder has access /permission granted, etc. DOES NOT HELP! The inappropriate images that come up for album cover results, are very disgusting, to put it mildly. THIS HAS GOTTEN BEYOND RIDICULOUS! ONE SECOND A SONG WILL PLAY, AND THE NEXT IT IS UNPLAYABLE! WHAT THE HECK IS THE PROBLEM!?
★☆☆☆☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-20 · 4 found this helpful
Love it, arguably one of the best music player. Although I am very much disappointed with its album art tagging lately. It's tagging songs with wrong and irrelevant album art. And some time ago it was literally tagging NSFW JAV on the songs

Does Poweramp Music Player support synced lyrics?

The app description lists synchronized and plain lyrics, plus lyrics search through a plugin. In reviews, however, users still ask for better synchronized lyrics, embedded lyrics from inside the app, and pinyin support. One reviewer specifically recommends pairing Poweramp with a separate lyrics app.

So Poweramp has lyrics-related support, but reviewers do not describe it as a complete built-in lyrics workflow for every use case.

It's almost perfect! Just needs some synchronized lyrics and a few more customization options. Seriously though, those synchronised lyrics in the next update would be a game-changer. Can't wait! I've been waiting for that option for many days. I'll give full stars, if it happened.
★★★★☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-16 · 3 found this helpful
Honestly, when it comes to aesthetics, this app is fire. im the type who want order after editing my tags, so compared to my previous music app the sorting isn't even compared. Even after putting sorting to "last added to library" the latest song switches with the second one, it might be minor, I know but its something I'd take to account. And finally, the reason its not 5 stars is because the app can't engrave lyrics from within the app and needs a third party and the tagging isn't the best too

Does Poweramp Music Player support bit-perfect audio, DACs and Hi-Res output?

Poweramp’s description says it supports Hi-Res output and gives users detailed audio processing options. Reviews, however, repeatedly ask for bit-perfect playback, disabling the resampler, stricter Android audio bypass, or more direct DAC support. That means Poweramp may satisfy users who want Hi-Res settings and EQ, but it may not satisfy users specifically looking for bit-perfect or DAC-focused playback like some specialist players.

Ive been using Poweramp Full Version for a few months now, and so far it never disappoints me. The UI is one of the most cleanest UI ive ever experience compared to Spotify and YTMusic. Audio equalizer is good and it can deliver amazing sound quality. But one flaw about this app is you couldn't disable the resampler, people want this because they want to achieve bit perfect audio. I hope Poweramp will support bit perfect audio in the future. Thanks Poweramp!

★★★★☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-27 · 0 found this helpful
Overall best app. But I think it needs strict audio bypass on Android because, until I set 24/32-bit hi-res and 192kHz, it shows audio output with hi-re quality. But when I set it to Auto, all songs play at 16-bit-44kHz, even for songs that are 24-bit-192kHz.

How is Poweramp Music Player on Android Auto?

Poweramp supports Android Auto, but recent reviews include complaints about the Android Auto redesign and behavior. Users specifically mention reduced seek precision, left-justified controls, a click sound when changing tracks, and requests for a simpler equalizer mode for car use.

If Android Auto is your main listening environment, the reviews suggest checking whether the current layout and controls work for you during the trial.

07/22 - Srongly dislike the new Android Auto fullscreen redesign. They decided to tack the current track position / track time to the end of the seek bar - this forces the seek bar itself to be shorter which reduces seek precision. Why not stack it under the artist and song on the left side, there's so much wasted blank space! They also decide to left justify all the controls for some reason, with the pause/play button stuck in the lower left instead of centered. Who was asking for this?
★★☆☆☆Poweramp Music Player · 2026-07-23 · 12 found this helpful
developers pls remove or give an option to disable the click sound that comes while changing tracks/songs in Android auto. also a basic equaliser to adjust for a noob is a welcome kit. like basic and pro options.

Does Poweramp Music Player have crashes or black screen bugs?

Some recent reviewers report serious stability problems, including constant crashes, black screen behavior, the app closing on first launch after a trial popup, and the app malfunctioning after updates. These reports are not the whole review picture, but they are specific enough that new users should test the app on their own device before assuming it will be stable.
