Edit: The ads are horrendous, started off not that bad and then I get a ton of ads that just randomly appear when a bot is mid sentence, it's annoying. make it like 3 ads every time you leave a bot instead. 💔 Edit 2: they sent me a fake malware warning, not even an advertisement, it just said "malware detected, scan here" and when I pressed scan it tried to make me press a link, I got out of it, went to my own malware protection and it said everything was fine. don't download this app.

Is Zeta legit?
Yes. Zeta is a real, established app in the AI-chat category, frequently compared by reviewers to Character.AI, Chai, and PolyBuzz, and many consider it one of the better options for memory and uncensored roleplay. Is Zeta free, or do you have to pay?

What costs money is the ad-free experience (a subscription reviewers cite at around $16 per month) and the "pieces" currency used for visual-novel mode beyond a turn limit, for rewinding story choices, and for the smarter AI model. Reviewers say you can use the app indefinitely without paying if you tolerate ads and the visual-novel limits.
The app relies far too much on payments and Pieces. I understand AI servers cost money, but forcing users to pay just to continue their visual novels and chats is just frustrating. Please consider yourselves by adding a "Watch Ad = 10 Pieces" option so free users can keep chatting without spending money. Ads are a fair compromise for everyone. If you add this feature, I'd gladly change my rating to 5 stars because the app itself is actually enjoyable...thank you.

Why does Zeta show so many ads?
Ads fund the free tier, and the most common complaint by far is that they are frequent and get worse the longer you use the app — reviewers report an ad every few messages and again whenever they start a new chat, sometimes with a forced 30-second wait instead of a skippable ad. A number of reviewers also say each ad kicks them out to the Play Store and then doesn't register as watched, forcing them to sit through several. The paid subscription removes ads.
Honestly I won't make a review often, if ever, but the ads man... I've gotten 9 ads in less than 7 minutes. I'm watching ads more than I'm interacting with the AI. Not only that, but memory falls off and defaults back to the characters background information after about half an hour of interaction. Genuinely has potential, but is severely held down by its constant ad spam, as well as poor memory quality.

What are "pieces" in Zeta and are they required?
"Pieces" (also called shards or bits in reviews) are an in-app currency. Regular character chat doesn't need them, but reviewers say they're required to continue visual-novel stories past about 30 turns, to roll back a story choice, to give a bot custom instructions, and to use the higher-quality AI model. Several reviewers object that pieces can mainly be bought rather than earned, and that their price has increased. If you stick to standard chat you can largely avoid them.
it was good until they upped the price of the pieces. they were 10 dollars for 2000 pieces. now it's 14 dollars. not to mention they ai are getting dumber the more you use them. and they won't let you correct the ai. they changed. not for the good. they got money hungry. update. the ai is now higher if you want to talk to a smart bot. and if you dont,get use to no memory after two messages. and the pieces just went up. it was 8 pieces for the really smart one. now it's 10. and only lasts 4hours

Why does Zeta's AI keep forgetting the story?
