Is TV Remote - Universal Control a scam?
The reviews raise serious trust concerns. Reviewers directly call TV Remote - Universal Control a scam or fraud, mainly because they say it did not work, charged them after a trial, or was hard to cancel. There are also positive reviews from users who say it connects and works, so the review record is mixed, but the negative subscription and cancellation complaints are substantial enough that prospective users should be cautious.
SCAM! It would not connect to TV. l just wanted to see if it would work on my TV. And they charged me. Why i couldnt cancel this..Refund me! I DID NOT USE IT!

Is TV Remote - Universal Control free, or do you have to pay?
The Play Store listing shows the app as free, but many reviews say normal use quickly runs into a trial, subscription prompt, or paywall. Reviewers specifically complain that basic remote actions and quality-of-life features require payment, while others say the app does work after paying. Do not assume “free” means the remote functions you need will be available without subscribing.
Pressing the 'ok' button is locked behind a (3-day) free trial to their subscription model. For a remote. For $7 A WEEK. Or you know, $27 a year or one easy payment of $32. Manipulative crooks.
cannot even turn up or down volume without a subscription, useless app
The app works great. You have to pay for it, but it works. I think I'd give it another star. If I didn't have to pay for it

Does TV Remote - Universal Control actually connect to a TV?
Connection reliability appears mixed. Some reviewers say the app connected easily or worked better than other remote apps, while many others say it failed to find the TV, disconnected repeatedly, or stopped working after initially working. The safest reading of the reviews is that it may work for some TV and phone setups, but it is not reliable for everyone.
easiest connection between two devices I have ever had to do .
have to constantly reconnect, even 30 seconds later. never connects the first time. have to close it and reopen it and try to connect again.
Does not work consistently. You have to keep restarting the app. sometimes it doesn't see your television at all. Glad I only used the three day trial.

Can I use TV Remote - Universal Control if I lost my physical remote?
Reviews suggest this app may not solve the problem if you have already lost the physical remote. Several users say setup required them to approve something on the TV or use the original remote first, which defeats the purpose for someone trying to replace a missing remote.
do not use if you lost your remote and think this will work. you need physical remote to set it up.
i dont have a remote to hit the button to allow this to work om my tv....
So I bought this remote, because I lost mine, and now I won't let me use it. Because of something that keeps popping up on the screen telling me I have to find my remote in order to use this one. The dumbest thing ever

How do I cancel TV Remote - Universal Control subscription or free trial?
The reviews do not provide a reliable cancellation path. Instead, many reviewers say they could not cancel, could not find where to unsubscribe, kept being charged, or found that uninstalling the app did not stop payments. Starting a trial appears to be a major risk according to these reviews.
I tried the 7 day trial to see if the remote worked on my TV and it doesn't let you cancel. I couldn't cancel and they've been charging me since. almost a year. ive put in for it to end plenty of times put in claims for refunds and nothing. Just got the bill again yesterday. im calling my bank to have the account blocked because the app nor Google play is doing anything about it. now I have to figure out a person to go pro Bono to get back the 60 dollars they've robbed from me
Good luck canceling this app, so far haven't found a way to do it. The remote didn't really work with the TV I needed it for.
Worked for one evening. After that, it won't load or connect to the tv. UPDATE: Really glad they have contacted me because now that I want to stop using the app, I cannot find any way at all to stop being charged for the Evolly TV Remote. I am left with the very annoying situation that I will have to cancel my credit card to cease paying them. I have uninstalled the app. But, there's no way to disconnect from the payments.

Are there too many ads or popups in TV Remote - Universal Control?
Ads and subscription popups are a common complaint in the reviews. Users say ads or premium prompts interrupt remote use, sometimes after each key press or after only a few uses. One reviewer also objected to seeing ads despite a subscription model.

Does TV Remote - Universal Control lock basic buttons like OK and volume?
Yes, reviewers specifically report basic controls being blocked or unusable without payment. The complaints name the OK button, volume controls, and general remote controls. This matters because these are core remote functions, not just extra features.
Pressing the 'ok' button is locked behind a (3-day) free trial to their subscription model. For a remote. For $7 A WEEK. Or you know, $27 a year or one easy payment of $32. Manipulative crooks.

Does TV Remote - Universal Control work with Roku, Fire TV, Samsung, LG and other TVs?
The app description claims support for major smart TV platforms and also says compatibility is not guaranteed for every model. Reviews reflect that uncertainty: one user praised it after trying Firestick and universal remote apps, while others say it was not compatible, did not pick up their TV, or connected but would not control anything.
I must have tried 30 different firestick and universal remote free trial and I bought this one on a one year subscription. the best by far and away. Not one other was even a good comparison.
not compatible with my tv
doesn't pick up my TV most of the time and when it does it doesn't work
