I purchased pro / paid version in Google play on this exact account in around 2015. Installed it on new phone, it is free version. Don't buy pro, use free.

Why won't MAPS.ME download offline maps even though I have internet?

Did MAPS.ME lose my saved locations after a recent update?
Some long-time users report losing previously saved bookmarks and locations after the app moved parts of itself to a subscription model, with no apparent way to recover them. This isn't reported by every reviewer, but if you rely on saved places, it's worth backing them up before a major update.
It was once very good offline map, but then it updated to a subscription service and I lost all my saved locations. Maybe I should have backed them up, doesn't matter anymore it's gone and soon I will be gone from this app becuase I don't recognise it anymore.
