Is Facetune a scam?
Facetune is a real, widely used photo-editing app, so it isn't fabricated. But a cluster of reviewers use the word 'scam' specifically about its billing behavior — being charged monthly after trying to cancel, or discovering after paying for VIP that advertised features (like editing existing videos, not just recording new ones) aren't actually included. Read what a subscription tier actually unlocks before paying, and confirm your cancellation went through rather than assuming it did.
they keep charging me and I don't want it at all. I can't seem to cancel this monthly payment. such a scam.

Is Facetune legit?
Yes, it's a legitimate, well-known editing app from an established developer, and plenty of reviewers get real value from its photo tools. The trust concern reviewers raise most is a mismatch between what's advertised and what VIP actually delivers — one reviewer specifically calls it a 'bait-and-switch' after paying for VIP and finding they still couldn't edit existing videos from their phone, only record new footage inside the app.
The ultimate bait-and-switch: despite their advertising on Play Store, their website, and within the app itself, Facetune doesn't tell you that even if you pay for VIP, you cannot edit videos already on your phone. You can only use the app's live camera mode for fresh recordings. You can't import videos into Facetune from your phone's camera or anywhere else. Pretty scammy behavior from such a major app!

Why does Facetune keep charging me after I cancelled my subscription?
There's a specific gotcha reviewers report: cancelling through the Google Play Store subscription list doesn't stop billing, because Facetune says cancellations must go through its own website instead. If you cancel only through Play, expect to still be charged — reviewers recommend cancelling directly on Facetune's own site and confirming that separately.
Be careful when cancelling the subscription. Facerune only accepts cancellations done via their website. If you cancel via a Play Store - they will still charge you!

Why do I have to pay to unlock features after the Facetune free trial?
This is intentional: most of Facetune's editing tools live behind a paid VIP subscription, and the free trial is meant to convert into a paid plan automatically unless you cancel first. Reviewers also report cases where a legitimate past purchase stopped being recognized after an update, requiring proof of the original receipt to resolve — so it's worth keeping your purchase confirmation even after you've paid once.
do not subscribe to VIP status. waste of money. subscribed for yearly plan. now it no longer longer works and states that I need to purchase vip status. contacted customer service, and they won't do anything without a copy of my receipt. Of course, I no longer have that emailed receipt since that was back in January. I'm now sol. do not subscribe to them. according to my Google play store, I am still subscribed. I am now canceling so I won't get charged next year for nothing as well.

Does Facetune use my photos to train its AI?
At least one reviewer reports that Facetune uses uploaded photos to train its AI models and that opting out isn't easy to find inside the app. If this matters to you, check the app's current privacy settings and permissions carefully before uploading anything sensitive, since the opt-out — if available — isn't presented prominently according to this feedback.
don't use it. it uses ur photos to train it's AI and opting out isn't easy or accessible in the app. don't download. it's using your face for ai training
