Does DuckDuckGo actually protect my privacy and block trackers?
For most reviewers, yes — the built-in tracker blocking and lack of persistent cookies are exactly why they switched from other browsers, and plenty of long-time users report years of satisfaction with the privacy features. But there's at least one specific and troubling report of the browser signing into a Google account and retaining browsing history without the user granting that permission, which runs directly against DuckDuckGo's core promise and is worth watching for if you notice unexpected sign-ins.
stopped offering vpn. Has secretly signed in my google account throught its browser and stored that info and now tracks to my history. Never gave it these permissions, either you or google is stealing my data I direclty said no too. Use browser to go to google and check if does this to you also. Searching gives poor results due to the ignorance of the ai, ring back old search bar function ,not ai chosen results should better function

Why does DuckDuckGo keep crashing or freezing?
A cluster of recent reviewers describe the browser becoming unreliable — crashing on load, freezing mid-page, or becoming unresponsive enough that some describe going back to another browser entirely. This looks like a real, recent stability issue based on how many reviewers report it around the same time rather than an old or isolated complaint.
very unreliable browser constantly crashing very slow to load unable to clear search history have gone back to using Google

Can I turn off the AI features in DuckDuckGo?
Yes, and reviewers who value the app's privacy focus specifically appreciate that the AI chat and AI-influenced search results can be toggled off rather than forced. If you'd rather have traditional link-based search results without an AI layer, that option exists inside the app's settings.
Deep appreciation that the ai features are optional and can be toggled off. have found some search results lacking in recent months, though hopefully this improves again over time.

Why has DuckDuckGo shown more ads recently?
At least one reviewer reports a noticeable jump in ads after installing the app, including video ads appearing prominently, which felt at odds with expectations for a privacy-focused browser and made them question how private the experience actually is. This isn't the typical browsing experience most reviewers describe, but it's worth watching for if ad load increases noticeably on your device.
Never saw adds about duckduckgo , until I installed it, Non stop adds everywhere. Youtube non stop and it's always the first add appearing. News app there too. Makes me thing how Private this thing really is ? thinking about deleting it and going with another popular private browser
